At Andes Immersion we’re concerned about the beauty of the mountains, the incredible history of the region, the trekking experience and the challenges these provide. We believe that tourism should have a positive impact, enriching the lives of both visitors and locals. Through sustainable tourism practices, communities can focus on their traditions, celebrations, stories, arts, because they have more resources to devote to maintaining their cultures, heritages, and languages. We believe in the Defense of Local Culture, the effort to protect the local living cultures as well as their historical traditions and customs. Andes Immersion guides and staff are appropriately knowledgeable on this subject. Our guides are local experts in our ancestral customs and traditions. The majority of our guides are native Quechua speakers.

Environmental responsibility:

Nowadays, we are all concerned about the environment and taking care of Mother nature (Pachamama). We take a cue from the Quechua, the indigenous people of the Andean highlands. They hold a strong belief in the power of Mother Earth, or “Pachamama,” and so do we. We understand the potential harm that can come from taking groups through delicate environments, natural areas and sanctuary parks. We and our licensed operators insist on a “Leave no trace” tourism policy. We manage our waste by implementing plastic-free tours. Everyone should carry their canteens to reduce the use disposable bottles. Our goal is to have a minimal impact on the areas we visit. We work with trusted providers, suppliers, guides, and accommodations who share our eco-minded beliefs.
