Sacred Valley of the Incas tour – Full day

Overview:

On this full day tour we will visit a number of traditional town in this fertile valley. The valley was known as the sacred valley because it provided the food for the Incas in Cusco and Machu Picchu. Lying at an altitude of between 2,700m/ 8,858 ft and 2,900 m / 9,514 ft.

Private Services: These tour are arranged just for you and your party and offer the possibility to choose the departure date, the group size and the duration of the tour. This not only has the advantage of adapting the pace to your physical condition, but also usually means enjoying quieter tours, less travelers along the route and most important, not many shopping stops!

Detailed Itinerary:

Full Day: Itinerary

In order to avoid crowds and enjoy more of the sacred valley of the Incas, we pick you up from your hotel around 7:30 am and drive from Cusco towards the sacred valley of the Incas visiting the following places. PISAQ (9744 ft / 2970 m town – 11154 ft / 3400m ruins): We visit the Inca remains perched above the town walking one and a half hours before descending in the bus/ private van and exploring the town’s famous market where we have lunch at one of restaurants in the town. OLLANTAYTAMBO (9153 ft / 2790 m): We visit this traditional town known as “the living Inca city”.  People live today in the houses and narrow streets built by the Incas with many still taking their water from the water channels that run through the town. We will take a guided tour of the Inca fortress which dominates the town, keeping watch over the sacred valley and hear about one of the greatest love stories of Inca times which took place here. Finally, we visit CHINCHEROS (12,450 ft / 3800 m): We stop to explore the colonial church and visit the Inca palace of Tupac Yupanqui, here we have a good chance to visit the weavers of the Andes who will explain about the process to obtain they have since hundreds of years ago and buy handicrafts and weavings from these local ladies before returning to our bus for the 45 min drive back to Cusco. Arriving around 6pm.  LUNCH: we have buffet lunch at Urubamba town (in private services we have more options for lunch)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many tourists and hikers opt to do this tour just before their visit to Machu Picchu or Inca trail as you can choose to finish in Ollantaytambo and stay here and appreciate the beauty of this Inca town from where you take the train on to Aguas Calientes (the town at the base of Machu Picchu) or have a good rest before the Inca trail experience!
